Crime rate drops by 60% in Dmu: PRO

Dimapur police in its monthly report issued on Saturday said that the crime rate witnessed a marked decline by approximately 60% especially in extortion related cases during the total lock down.

In a press note, PRO and ADCP (Crime) Dimapur police said that a total of 20 cases were registered in various Police Stations with the arrest of 20 individuals during the lock down period from May 4 till May 29, 2021.

As per the data, PRO said five extortion cases registered, wherein seven persons were arrested, two persons arrested in connection with kidnapping and abduction case, four arrested for theft, three under NLTP, one under arms act and two under grievous hurt. 

Besides the enforcement of Covid-19 SOP within the district, Dimapur Police has also been simultaneously carrying out intensive Inter-State border patrolling especially in Niuland, Dhansiripar and West Zone areas. 

Further, armed mobile escorts were being provided to transport trucks and intensive mobile/foot patrolling personnel have been deployed round the clock for prevention and detection of crime to ensure public safety, PRO added.
