
A certification ceremony of the recently concluded project of ‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)’ of skilled construction workers in and around Dimapur district was held on October 19, at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. The programme was organized by Muru Infra Developers firm.
In a press release, Muru Infra Developers project Manager Er. Jepito Khala, stated that through the project, the firm was able to assess 2230 construction workers from Dimapur as an initial target. It also helped them register under the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) under the aegis of the department of labour, Nagaland.
The programme was basically an assessment of skill labourers in the field of construction to recognise their skills based on the curriculum set by the National skill development corporation of India and provide them certain benefits and also provide them labour card.
During the ceremony, advisor Imnatiba Jamir spoke on empowerment of construction workers stating that Naga society need to look towards self-sufficiency as the present system of economy is solely dependent on government salary. He also said that NDPP under the leadership of the Chief Minister was working to come up with new plans and formulas to make the Naga economy a self -sufficient one . He said Nagaland has the potential to grow like any other states, adding that each state depended on one another and what is available in Nagaland is not available in other states.
Pointing out that building and construction sector has lots of scope and opportunities in Nagaland, Jamir said the objective of RPL is to recognize and bring everyone in a level to create more opportunities to skilled labours.
The advisor advised the gathering to avail various benefits and service rendered by the by the NSDC and NBOCWWB and reminded that people must create alternative economy of Nagaland and not only depend on salary economy.
Director of Muru Infra Developers, Vikali A Zhimomi who also spoke on the occasion highlighted that the firms deal with the construction of flexible pavements, buildings and other logistical machines.
Zhimomi added that firms has venture into this field since 2019 and were able to successfully recognising skilled workers in and around Dimapur and help them avail benefits and service rendered by the by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB).
The Director added that Muru Infra Developers is the only firm in Nagaland that has been recognised by the NSDC and Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI) to undertake the RPL project. She also stressed on the importance of making the entire Nagaland a skilled oriented state. Muru Infra Developers project manager, Er. Jepito Khala gave a presentation highlighting the processes involved and the success of the recently concluded project.
The project officer encouraged all construction workers in Nagaland to register themselves under their department to secure their future. He informed that a registered worker under the department,will have merits of benefit such as accidental or natural death benefits of 4 lakhs rupees, scholarships upto two children from (class A-10) for an amount of Rs. 500 per child per month. Other benefits are medical benefits to any member of the family upto Rs. 1000 per day for five days and Rs. 500 per day for the following 10 days stay in the hospital. If the bonafide worker is a female, she gets a benefit of Rs. 6000 per child birth for two children.
