
Various districts in Nagaland observed the “Universal Health Coverage Day 2021” on the theme “Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in Health System for all” on December 13. The Universal Health Coverage Day is the annual rallying point to raise voices and share stories of people still waiting for health, to call on leaders to make smarter investments in health and to remind the world about the imperative of universal health coverage (UHC).
In Dimapur, under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) Dimapur, UHCD 2021 and urban ASHAs felicitation programme was held at the chief medical officer’s (CMO’s) Office chamber.
In a press release, district media officer Dimapur NUHM consultant, Kimnei stated that CMO Dimapur, Dr. Moatemjen said that the day was observed with a vision to make quality and affordable health care more accessible without falling into financial hardship. He urged urban Accredited Social Health Activists (AHSAs) to continue helping in building a better and health future for generations to come.
CMO requested them to identify gaps to ensure that everyone had access to healthcare especially during Urban Health Nutrition Day (UHND) and outreach sessions as they are the bridge between the public and the medical department.
He also stressed on the works of Mahila Arogya Samithi (MAS) in all the colonies and requested ASHAs to work together with MAS for maximum benefits for the communities.
Meanwhile, deputy CMO Dr. Antoly Suu acknowledged the urban ASHAs for their tireless work and contribution especially during the pandemic.
She added that in order to prevent future pandemic and achieve health for all and provide quality health care for all, equity in health care should be prioritised.
The following Urban ASHAs were felicitated based on their performance and contributions: Ajungla Imsong, ward 20-Imkonglenden, Imlirenla Pongen, ward 5- power house, and Ashebui, Ward 3- Naga Colony.
The ASHAs were each awarded with cash prizes and a certificates.
The Programme was chaired by NUHM consultant Toshinaro while welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by BAC (Urban) Tirangsungla Longchari and Dr. Antoly Suu respectively.
Mokokchung: UHCD-cum-ASHA felicitation programme was observed in the conference hall of the CMO, Mokokchung.
A press release from the CMO office informed that deputy CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Aonungdok addressed the participants on the significance of the observation and said that everyone deserved access to quality health services without suffering financial hardships.
He cited on the important role played by ASHAs as they dealt with the community at grassroots level and were responsible for encouraging patients to seek medical attention along with reporting of feedbacks and problems. While felicitating the ASHAS, DPO (UIP&RCH), Dr. Ayangla Saku acknowledged their hard work and encouraged them to carry forward their dedication in the days ahead.
Meanwhile, Urban ASHAs, Tialemla of Alempang, Imsuinla Ao Tongdentsuyong and Temjenrenla of Sangtemla were awarded state level certificate of recognition for their contributions as ASHAs in the district.
All the urban ASHAs were felicitated with tokens of appreciation by the CMO.
Wokha: The UHCD-cum-ASHA felicitation programme was held in the conference hall of the CMO Wokha. Speaking on this year’s theme, deputy CMO Dr. Zuben Kikon commented on the remarkable performance of ASHAs in carrying out healthcare activities and encouraged them to continue working efficiently and consistently in order to provide maximum health coverage to beneficiaries. During the programme, three best performing urban ASHAs from Wokha town were felicitated with certificates and cash amount by CMO Dr. Tumchobeni Kikon.
The best performing ASHAs Loyulo, Zuchobeni and Ziony also shared their experiences on various health activities and challenges they faced while performing their duties.
The programme was chaired by medical officer, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Dr. Achumi Kikon and was attended by UPHC staff, district programme management unit staff and ASHAs.
Tuensang: Tuensang observed UHCD-cum-ASHA felicitation programme under the chairmanship of district consultant NUHM Peshie at UPHC Tuensang.
In a press release, DMO (NHM) Apheang informed that during the programme, deputy chief medical officer Tuensang Dr. Moatemjen congratulated the best performing ASHA and encouraged them to rededicate and perform their duties well in the days to come. He presented the certificates to three ASHAs for their performances. The programme was attended by deputy chief medical officer, district consultant NUHM, UPHC staff, BAC Tuensang Sadar block and ASHAs.
