Kohima Pangti Ekhüng celebrates golden jubilee

The Kohima Pangti Ekhüng (KPE) celebrated its golden jubilee at Kruzo Park, Tsiese Basa under Kohima district on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, L. Edward Lotha, (Rtd) director higher education Nagaland said that “ism” was one of the ugliest social diseases destroying the Naga society.

“We see divisions within divisions, splits within splits in the Naga society”, he stated.

He said that there were two kinds of unity- positive unity and negative unity.

He pointed out that he saw no harm in a group of people forming a social unit which aimed and strived to do good for the wellbeing of all its members without harming or discriminating other people. This he said was an example of positive unity.

He exhorted that negative unity was when a group of people united and resorted to such actions aimed at benefitting its members only at the cost of other people or harming others in any way.

In this regard, he said such kind of negative unity should be shunned and discouraged.

He stated that the only way for forging unity among the Nagas was for all communities and social units to follow the teachings of the Bible in all sincerity as almost all the Nagas professed to be Christians.

“If we stay divided, we are doomed for the worst,” he said and encouraged the gathering to come together in spite of the differences in ideology.

Highlighting 50 years journey, KPE chairman C. Ngangshithung Shidio said it was a time when the fruits of hard works put in over the years could be enjoyed.

Meanwhile, PBLBC senior associate pastor, Rev. A Khyolamo Jami released the jubilee souvenir and vote of thanks was proposed by N. Nyimtsemo Ngullie.
