Kohima dist administration, legislators inspect road works

Kohima district administration along with two legislators from the district and SAYO inspected the ongoing existing road maintenance and repairing works between Kohima and Khuzama on May 28, 2022.
According to DIPR, advisor technical education and election Medo Yhokha called upon the National Highway Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and Fortune Group to put all efforts in restoring the road with the available machineries and manpower. Yokha expressed hope that road improvement would be witnessed within a week.
Advisor youth resources and sports Zale Neikha thanked the contractors for their assurance to begin work immediately. The road was left unattended for many years causing immense problems to the public. Neikha requested the firm not to only fill up the potholes, but also repair the Kimipfüphe bridge as early as possible.
DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, asked the Fortune group to mobilize the machineries immediately at the ongoing road maintenance and repairing work and culvert construction between Viswema and Khuzama. He said the road stretch was not only the lifeline of southern Angami area, but also for the people of Phek, Kiphire districts and Manipur state as well.
He directed the GM of Fortune group to address the most critical areas on priority and also clear off the culverts and drainages at the earliest.
DC encouraged the construction group to cooperate with the community and work together though it could face certain challenges since the monsoon has started.
He requested the group manager to prepare their work schedule by May 30, 2022 and submit it to DC office. DC has directed the firm to start working on daily basis as the road condition was becoming deplorable.
He also suggested the group to inform the area administrative officer if they come across any individual or community obstructing the ongoing works.
DC requested the villages plying on the road to extend full cooperation.
Taking note of some of area people dumping loose earth along the side of the road, DC has asked all responsible to stopped immediately in order to avoid clogging of drainages.
He also asked the vehicle servicing owners to streamline the outlet of water without letting it out into the roads directly. DC cautioned that appropriate action would be initiated against the violators.
Revenue officer Kohima Kelevituo Nisa urged the Fortune group to coordinate with the district administration and the community leaders and SAPO. He stated that all heads of the area have assured to extend support for the maintenance and repairing of the existing roads. SAYO also assured to arrange volunteers to give manpower to assist in supervising the works with full cooperation.
The team inspected the roads of Phesama, Kigwema, Viswema, Jakhama and Khuzama.
