Northern Angami Women Organisation (NAWO) has strongly condemned the alleged rape of a 5-year-old at Tsiesema village on July 9.
In a commendation note, NAWO president, Thinuohe-ü Loucü and general secretary, Luotuonuo Tseikhanuo said that they were “dismayed and outraged” by the heinous and inhuman act and extended solidarity with the survivor and sympathies, support and empathy to the family members during the difficult time.
Noting that the pain and suffering experienced by the survivor, the family and the community at large were indescribable, the organisation said that one should ever have to endure a harrowing violation of their rights, dignity and autonomy.
NAWO called upon the law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and arrest the perpetrator(s) at the earliest and ensured that the perpetrator(s) face the full force of the law.
Further NAWO called upon all like-minded people in the state to join in unequivocally condemning the act.
