Nagaland team beat host state Assam in the ongoing 78th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2024, at Nalbari Assam on November 20. Nagaland bested Assam, 2-1 and won their debut match in the trophy.
Goal scorer for Nagaland team were Ayenmonba Chang in the 6th minute and Neisede Peseyie in the 12th minute in the first half while the lone goal for Assam was scored through penalty in the second half.
The team will be playing against Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh in their succeeding matches. These four teams are in Group-E and all these matches for the group will be played at Deshbhakta Maidan Mukalmua.
The team is led by head coach Roko Angami, asst coach Khwetelhi Thopi, manager cum goal keeping coach Vizovor Liezietsu and physio Zakielatuo Seletsu.
