Dimapur excise personnel on Friday have claimed that 1098 bottles of assorted IMFL were seized from different shops and hotels within the last seven days.
According to a press communiqué issued by superintendent of excise and prohibition, Dimapur, K. Y Sangtam, the raid was conducted at Delux junction, Blue Hill Station, Burma Camp and Dhobi Nullah areas, where 12 persons were arrested and booked under NLTP Act’89.
Sangtam also stated that as per the direction of the Election Commission of India’s Committee on Liquor Monitoring (CLM), the district excise department would increase enforcement duties through strict surveillance, detections, seizures and intelligence sharing with other enforcement.
Meanwhile, he also requested for cooperation from the public, ward members, village councils and NGOs for successful implementation of the prohibition act and “liquor free” election.
