Mon bans single use plastic

ADC Mon & administrator, Mon Town Council, Y Chingyak Konyak has informed that all single use plastic in Mon Town would be banned with effect from December 1.

ADC informed that the following fell under the category of single use plastic: all plastic carry bags, with or without handles, irrespective of thickness and size; plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cups, straws, stirrers etc; cutlery and other decorative made of styrofoam (thermocol); polythene; nylon; poly-vinyl-chloride(p.v.c); poly-propylene; poly-styrene.

Any breach of the ban would be liable for penalties as per the law, ADC stated.
