Intercessory prayer is a selfless and sacrificial prayer, it is a prayer for the safety of others, said Rev. Vezopa Tetso, executive secretary, Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA) during the concluding 9th session of three-day NPBCA pastors’ conference on Sunday at Police Baptist Church, Dimapur.
Speaking on the topic ‘deeper in intercessory prayer’, Rev Vezopa said intercessory prayer was not an ordinary prayer but prayer of true believers who knew the destiny of human beings, communicate with God and hear the word of God adding God’s commandment should be informed and interceded for the safety of others.
Calling upon the pastors to mediate for non-believers, he also asked to question oneself if one was unable to pray and communicate with God as a Christian. Further, he also encouraged the pastors and believers to pray for political leaders, different groups and be the good core of interceding prayer. Exhorting the congregation on the occasion, SP Dimapur, Liremo encouraged the pastors to bring changes and transformation in the society. Stressing on the responsibility of the pastors and district executive force, he said the law enforcing personnel should be first transformed in order to bring changes in the society and also take up the responsibility in ministering the church members to be active in the church activities and to encourage in paying tithes as a member of the church by virtue.
The 9th session of NPBCA pastors’ conference resolved to commemorate the year 2009 as the year of ‘launching out deeper’. It also decided to hold its 10th session at Police Baptist Church Tening.
