District Task Force (DTF) Mokokchung which was constituted in February 7, 2012 (for quality/price control and labour wages) visited various construction sites in and around Mokokchung town on March 20.
The visit was organized to ascertain whether the labourers engaged in construction works were paid wages as per the rates fixed by DTF.
According to an official bulletin, the team headed by DTF chairman, Chubawati Chang, ADC Mokokchung visited various sites under construction including Fazl Ali College canteen-cum-recreational building and PWD office complex.
DTF members consisting of engineers from various departments, assistant labour commissioner, Mokokchung and nominated individuals interacted with the labourers engaged in the work and examined their daily wages and proficiency cards issued by the DTF.
It may be mentioned that DTF Mokokchung submitted daily wage rates for labourers within Mokokchung town and it was approved by DPDB Mokokchung on February 7, 2012.
The rates accordingly notified were: Highly Skilled labourers – Rs. 350, skilled labourers – Rs. 300, semi-skilled – Rs. 250 and unskilled labourers – Rs. 170. DTF periodically conducts necessary test for issuance of proficiency cards to labourers.
