Nukhu to assess infrastructures, staff position of govt. colleges

Parliamentary secretary for higher education and SCERT Deo Nukhu Monday said he would make an assessment of staff position and infrastructure including libraries of all government colleges soon and assured them of necessary help during the 12th Year Plan.

The parliamentary secretary was speaking at a function where four buses for government colleges were flagged off at the directorate of higher education campus.

Nukhu in his brief address said that four buses have been provided  for Kohima, Longleng, Phek and Zunheboto districts with an aim for providing better connectivity and improvement of government colleges in the state.

He said Peren and Kiphire districts would also be provided with government buses for government colleges within two years.

Delivering a short speech, commissioner & secretary higher education F.P. Solo said the Government was working to improve connectivity of colleges located in the remote places. During the last, Rs. 1 crore has been sanction to provide some buses for the students and staff and replacement of old gypsys and boleros for the college principals.

He also lamented that around 30 thousands students were enrolled in colleges in the state but just 30% of them were enrolled in government colleges.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by higher education director Dr. Toshiba Echa who also delivered the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by additional director higher education C. Khalong.
