NVBD day observed

National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (NVBD) was jointly observed by DAPCU, NRHM, MSF, RRC and partner NGOs with support from NSACS and LFA, Nagaland on October 1 at Council Hall, Mon under the theme “Donate Blood and Safe a Life”.

DC Mon Angau I. Thou, speaking as the chief guest highlighted that increase in demand of blood has attached greater importance to the celebration of voluntary blood donation.  She called for campaigning from rural areas to the village level to sensitize people on voluntary blood donation.
She acknowledged voluntary blood donors to take a step forward to make a difference by saving someone’s life.

The programme began with a welcome note by Dr. T.Kikon, CMO, Mon while Dr. Wungyong, MO, DH, Mon briefed on the significance of the of the day
S. Hongpi, DPRO, Mon, Maj.S. D. Sharma, Assam Rifles and Dr. Marlies, Medical Focul Point, MSF were also present at the event.

Patkai Christian College: National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was observed at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on October 1 which was initiated by Red Ribbon Club (RRC).

RRC of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) in collaboration with Blood Bank, Dimapur Civil Hospital, also conducted a “Blood Donation Camp” in the college campus to commemorate the day.

A short programme preceded the camp where Dr. Temsu, Blood Bank in-charge spoke on “truth about blood donation”. A total of 40 volunteers, including 5 members from the faculty and staff, donated their blood.
