Button mushroom (Agaricus Bisporous) known as the best variety of mushrooms produced for direct consumption, for canning industry and for the preparation of soup and sauces grown experimentally in Nagaland by department of horticulture is available at mushroom development centre, 4th mile Dimapur.
A press release by Meyasashi, horticulture officer, mushroom development centre, Dimapur stated that the standard production technology of button mushroom involved four steps, composting, spawning, casing and cropping followed by the productivity about 40% of raw material used, grown on paddy straw based compost, grows in low temperature (below 20 degree C) and should be suitable for cultivation in hilly region.
