Exposure trip for JFMCs

The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), conducted a two-day exposure trip for members of Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) from DMU Peren to DMU Dimapur.

The trip was organized in two phases. Batch I villages—Mpai Namci, Old Nkio, and Nchangram—visited Hekhese, Thekrejuma, and Piphema Old Village on April 24 and 25. Batch II villages—Old Nzau, Peren Village, Peletkie Village, and Tening Village—traveled to Pherima A and Piphema Old Village on May 8 and 9.

A press release from DMU Peren informed that the initiative aimed to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing between JFMCs and SHGs of both divisions, focusing on Income Generation Activities (IGAs) and community-driven forest management.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing experiences on forest conservation and livelihood efforts under NFMP and JICA. They also visited Entry Point Activity (EPA) sites and forest treatment models to understand sustainable forest management practices.

Officials from DMU Peren and DMU Dimapur coordinated the trip, ensuring smooth knowledge exchange. The program concluded with a feedback session, where participants highlighted the importance of continued collaboration for long-term ecological and economic benefits.
