The Modern Montessori Teachers Training Institute (MMTI), in collaboration with Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development, conducted a comprehensive orientation workshop on invisible disabilities in school-going children on May 10 in Kohima.

According to a press release from MMTI, the workshop aimed to educate and sensitize teachers about the challenges faced by children with conditions such as Speech & Language Disorders, Hearing Loss, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Learning Difficulties.

In her keynote address, Senior Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist Henwasin Sweety Lorin emphasized the vital role teachers play in early intervention and diagnosis. She noted that increased awareness and timely support can significantly improve the lives of children with special needs, ensuring they receive the best possible start.

The event brought together teachers from various preschools, along with students from the teachers’ training institute, fostering a collaborative effort to enhance inclusive education practices.
