Nagaland along with other seven states – Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh – would receive Krishi Karman Awards for 2011-12 on January 15.
The awards announced now – for 2011-12 – will be presented by the President to chief ministers or agriculture ministers of those states.
Award winning States get a trophy, a citation and cash award. The cash award is Rs. 2 crores for total foodgrain production and Rs. 1 crore for each of the four individual crops.
Nagaland has been selected as the best performing state in overall food grain production among the Category-III states (whose annual total food grains production is less than one million tonne), PIB release stated.
