Elderly lady cheated of Rs.50k; case settled

A woman accused of fraud was produced by Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) in its office premise here Friday.

The accused identified as Imtinaro (34), hailing from Aliba village and residing at Aongza Ward, Mokokchung had cleverly defrauded an elderly lady, Tsuktikala of Longjang village of Rs. 50,000 on December 15, 2012, which she was supposed to receive in the form of loan (Kisan Credit Card) from the SBI, Mokokchung.

The matter came to light when it was put forth to AKM grievances cell on January 23, 2013. After thorough investigation and interrogation by the members of the grievances cell, the accused admitted to withdrawing money by forging the signature of the victim.

However, the matter was resolved Friday afternoon after Imtinaro repaid the amount (Rs. 50,000) to Tsuktikala in the presence of witnesses of both parties along with AKM representatives.
