NVC condemns attack by armed miscreants

Condemning the February 20 incident in which political supporters of Congress, BJP and NCP were allegedly attacked by around 10 unidentified armed miscreants in “uniform”, Nungying village council and the public of Nungying village have urged the law enforcing agency to arrest those perpetrators and award befitting punishment at the earliest.

In a press release, NVC chairman Elhio Yanthan stated that on February 20 at around 8 p.m. the victims, while returning from Nungying village to Wokha after visiting their relatives, were blindfolded, hands tied behind the back and tortured for than four hours by armed miscreants.

NVC chairman claimed that all their belongings such as mobile phones, ATM card and wrist-watch were also snatched away by armed miscreants.

All four vehicles in which they were traveling were also pushed down the hill and completely destroyed. Further, NVC stated that the victims were warned not to cast vote in favour of Congress.
