Maintaining that Dimapur district has been neglected for the past 10 years, several civil societies in the district have appealed to political parties, which would form the next government in the state, to accord special attention to Dimapur district by allotting cabinet berth.
A joint appeal, issued by at least 10 civil societies, pointed out that the path to development would be more accessible with a representative in the cabinet, saying Dimapur was the only cosmopolitan city of the state and the mirror of Nagaland.
Further, pointing out that Dimapur was the nerve centre of trade and communication, the signatories said: “as such, we wholeheartedly appeal to the next dispensation to accord due importance to the lifeline of the rest of the state in order to foster unity, harmony, progress and all-round development.”
The signatories included Naga Council Dimapur president Bangerloba; Dimapur chamber of commerce and industry president Hokivi Chishi; Naga women Hoho Dimapur president Hukheli T Wotsa, Dimapur Naga students’ union president Mhachio Lotha; GBs union Dimapur president M.Y.Ngullie; Urban area council chairmen federation Dimapur president Supong Ao; Muslim Council Dimapur president A.Hannan and Bengali Samaj Dimapur president K.K Paul.
