Kaito dismayed over encroaching govt. property

Nagaland home minister G Kaito Aye has expressed dismay at the rampant encroachment taking place in every nook and corner of Nagaland, whereby government quarters and establishments have been forcefully and unlawfully evicted or demolished by landowner(s).

Pointing out that such act was illegally quashing mutually agreed terms, he said this trend was hampering the developmental activities in Nagaland. He said public should cooperate, assist and contribute towards the governmental activities for positive development of the state.

Speaking as chief guest at the 50 years celebration of the government administrative circle, Chuchuyimlang, Kaito said the occasion was the right time for government agencies as well the public to retrospect how much has been contributed to reach thus far.

He also called upon the gathering to honour the pioneers and their kin for the attainment.
“If you want to upgrade an administrative circle, you need to contribute land for expansion, for development can never take place on the road,” said Kaito.

Stating that “Nagas are finding it very hard to live together”, Kaito, however, appreciated the unique administrative circle of Chuchuyimlang, whereby Aos, Changs and others co-existed under its administrative jurisdiction as Nagas. Opining that people may belong to different tribes, home minister, however, said at the end of the day they were Nagas.

Guest of honour, S Chuba Longkumer, MLA and NSAMB vice chairman lauded the selfless dedicatory services of the government servants who served in the administrative circle. He expressed hope that present and future officers would serve with greater responsibility.

Deputy commissioner Mokokchung, Murohu Chotso, cited that ‘amidst rejoicing, jubilee is a time to record the achievements and failures of the past and prepare a vision for the future’. He urged upon the administrators to serve the people with greater sincerity and dedication.

Ex-minister Sentichuba said ‘one should talk less and work more for the unity of the Nagas’. He cited that due recognition for the achievements and expansions of the government administrative circle Chuchuyimlang should also be bestowed upon N Thakar, the founder of Gandhi Ashram.

Altogether 12 villages and compounds fall under the jurisdiction of the Chuchuyimlang administrative circle with population of more than 25,000.
