A team of legislators under the leadership of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo would be leaving for Bangkok November 16 to attend the International Conference on AIDS Asia & Pacific (ICAAP) held every two year.
In a press release, state consultant (UNAIDS) Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) Nagaland Dr. Vinito L. Chishi stated that it was an opportunity for young legislators to participate in this conference and apply contextually in Nagaland and restore the State to HIV Free State in the next five years.
ICAAP is the biggest conference for Asia-Pacific on HIV and AIDS, which would be represented by countries all over the globe to update latest issues and concern and address future course of action including India as a whole and North East India in particular.
For over 20 years, ICAAP has played a key role in raising public awareness, building political commitment, strengthening advocacy networks and disseminating knowledge on HIV and AIDS issues.
Altogether, India will be represented by 25 members (eight from Nagaland) consisting of parliamentarians, legislators, field and technical experts and top level government officials in the field of HIV and AIDS.
