Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) has now appealed the responsible authority to complete fresh cutting of roads by April under any circumstances and warned responsible contractors not to cross the time frame set by the committee.
NFHRCC’s appeal for expedition of the work followed the commencement of the first phase of fresh cutting on December 21 last at Longtho Junction (Ao Sector) and simultaneously followed at Merapani area (Lotha Sector) on December 27.
NFHRCC convener Supu Jamir said that as per the resolution adopted in the last meeting between the committee and the contractors on January 18, the committee members would inspect the progress of the work shortly.
He also said that in the event of any contractors abandoning the assigned work unfinished, no payment would be made for the works already executed.
NFHRCC would continue to remain a “watchdog” till the completion of the project and the committee would take up the matter for the release of bill from the competent authority, said NFHRCC convener.
Supu also asserted that if any misunderstanding or dispute arose between the contractors, land owners, tribes, ranges, villages, associations, groups or any individual with regard to the foothill road construction, the matter would be adjudicated by NFHRCC and the decisions arrived at would be final and binding to the parties.
