PRSU visits govt schools, institutions; expresses dismay at weak functioning

Pathso Range Students’ Union (PRSU), which inspected all government institutions from April 30 last to May 1 under Noklak sub-division in Tuensang district, has expressed dismay at the weak functioning of institutions. 
In a press release, PRSU president Pongom Lamthew said the union during the tour visited eight government primary schools, two government middle schools, one government high school, sub centre and PHC. 
The union claimed that despite the government’s assurance on repeated pleas, latter has turned a deaf ear to its cry thus discrepancies remain the same.
PRSU stated that the only EAC headquarters at Panso town without EAC since 2009 “greatly exasperate” the general public and student community at large.
Claiming that almost all the schools were running with shortage of teachers, the union also said two GPSs were functioning without Hindi teachers since the past five years. 
Stating that “complete negligence” of the education department was “incomprehensible”, the PRSU said the career of students has been put at stake. 
It further stated that many of schools did not have proper toilets or no toilets at all, no electrification and no fencing wall.  Alleging uneven distribution of textbooks, PRSU said some students were constrained to complete the academic year without particular textbook causing them untold hardships in catching up with the syllabus. It also objected to “random issue” of MDM and cash which fail to sync with the ratio of pupils.
PRSU said during the tour one school that was found under dilapidated condition. It stated that the school had only two appointee teachers who were undergoing training. The school was closed during the course of the training and only the VECs attended during the inspection.
Also, PRSU said sub-centres and PHC were functioning but without basic necessities. 
It expressed gratitude to Tsuwao village council for financially assisting sub-centre from the village developmental fund in buying basic medicines over the year ever since the department halted supping. 
Meanwhile, warning the “unscrupulous erring employees” who neglected their duties without any leave for months, the PRSU has directed them to report to their offices prior to one month from the date of publication. It has however expressed appreciation to those sincere employees who discharged their duties tirelessly for the uplift of the area.
