Various state government undertakings, departments and Centrally funded missions’ staff have been following the ‘No pay, but work’ policy.
Instances like the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) employees, Hotel Saramati staff and several others have been working without pay.
NRHM throughout the state was yet to get their due share from the state government. Sources said owning to state’s financial crisis, the state Treasury has not released the funds staff salaries from almost three months.
NRHM employees informed Nagaland Post that such irregularities in releasing the salaries have been happening frequently for so many years. They expressed resentment that the state government has been running at the expense of the Central programmes by depriving the employees and their right to a regular income.
They further informed that the last salary (for March and April) was released in June and now the salary for June and July were still pending without any reason.
They said that the NSACS department was yet to receive the salary for the last four months, owing to the same issue, non release of funds from the state treasury.
In another shocker, it was learnt that the staff of Hotel Saramati Dimapur under Nagaland Hotels Limited, a state government undertaking, have not received their salary for more than a year. Altogether, the pending salary now has touched several crores of rupees.
The staff had put forth several representations seeking the state government’s intervention. However, nothing was positive. It may be mentioned that most of the salary component is generated from the revenue collection of the Hotel. But with the worst case scenario now, the staffs are dependent on the state government’s bail out.
