Dimapur landowners/pattadars forum has sought the state government and chief minister’s intervention on various issues concerning army occupied lands in Dimapur.
In a representation to the chief minister, the forum highlighted the problems and grievances faced by the land owners and patta holders under army occupation, who had been paying land revenues and fighting for long time.
The forum learnt that the defence estate had not received any positive response from the Dimapur administration despite sending regularly reminder letters over the years for final settlement.
This had delayed the matter for long which was under the revenue branch Dimapur, the forum added.
It further pointed out that the lack of transparency has kept the land pattadars in the dark about the status of their land and the state government not aware about the matter.
The forum had also raised several queries with regard to the ‘office memorandum’ dated January 16, 2014, wherein the cabinet had approved ‘Execution of Lease deed between the Army and the state government for a period of 99 years’.
Asserting that the State Cabinet was the final authority to finalize any matter, the forum said it was compelled to seek the intervention of the chief mister and the state government for necessary action.
The representation was jointly signed by– the forum’s president, Chupfuo Angami (ex-MLA); secretary, K Thong; exe. member, Vizolie Mepfuo; co-opt members: Vingulie Angami and E. Ezung (Rtd. IAS)
