Horti. dept conducts training on winter crops

One-day training programme on cultivation practices of winter vegetable crops for the Farmers’ Interest Groups (FIGs) of Kohima and Dimapur was conducted by Department of Horticulture on October 6, at Directorate of Horticulture Conference Hall.
Training was conducted under National Vegetable Initiative for Urban Clusters (NVIUC), a special scheme under RKVY.  In her keynote address, director of horticulture, Watienla Jamir, on witnessing huge turnout of FIGs, said it was a sign of progress of the NVIUC scheme. She said many farmers have been benefitted from the vegetable cultivation. Director also urged the farmers to keep up with their good work and put more effort in increasing their output and income for better economic returns. In the technical session, programme co-ordinator from KVK, Dimapur Dr. Anamika Sharma, highlighted the various technical aspects on the cultivation practices of peas, beans, radish, carrot and coriander.
During the technical session, NU: SASRD associate professor Dr. Pauline Alila, highlighted the various technical aspects on cultivation practices of winter vegetables like cabbage, knol-khol, tomato, chilli and onion. The programme followed by an interactive session between resource person and farmers.  More than 140 farmers attended the programme.
