As part of the student exchange programme initiated by IGAR (North) and Pine Grove School, Kasauli, 16 students accompanied by three teachers and two officers from the Assam Rifles were flagged off to Kasauli by Maj. Gen MS Jaswal, YSM, SM IGAR (North) and Jyotsna Jaswal, president of Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (North) on October 22.
According to AR, the student exchange programme envisages students staying at each other’s school to gain firsthand knowledge of local customs, cuisines and other facets of day-to-day life.
It said the students would also be participating in wide range of activities including workshop on comics making by renowned cartoon artist from Delhi, visits to historical monuments, educational institutions, adventure activities and would also be interacting with important dignitaries from all walks of life.
According to AR, the enthusiasm of the students and their parents was very encouraging. Lephroji of Little Flower School said “I have been talking to my host students from Kasauli, Jahnvi Joshi on phone, and have also exchanged photos on Whatsapp. I can’t wait to meet her in person. This is a dream come true for me”. Mukam Kusun, father of Lunta said “It is great initiative by Assam Rifles. It is once in a lifetime opportunity. I am sure my child will come back with a lot of knowledge and new experiences and will enlighten us”.
Ersilla, teacher from Little Flower School said “The kind of learning one gets through, travelling and exploring new places, no text book can impart that knowledge. I am sure this trip will leave everlasting impressions in the young minds”.
The students are from Don Bosco School, Little Flower School and Mt. Sinai School. The programme was attended by parents, students, teachers, media, officers and ladies of Hq IGAR (North).
