Dimapur police have arrested three persons from Nagaon district, Assam, while allegedly attempting to sell counterfeit gold bars in Dimapur on November 2.
According to addl. dy. commissioner of police and PRO, the trio have been identified as: Ahadul Islam, Md Raul Amin and Hussain Ali all from Assam’s Nagaon district. Two gold coloured metals weighing approximately 750 grams seized from their possession. As per the modus operandi, the three lured the innocent victims believed that ignorant sellers were selling gold at throw away prices. The victims were first given real gold for testing and after making the deal and payment, the buyers were handed the counterfeit bars, PRO said.
A case has been registered at East Police Station for further investigation.
