Sixty four rainees of AET under the Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC) went on a four days study tour to State Agriculture Research Station (SARS) Yisemyong, Mokokchung, Wokha and Kohima districts from November 2 to 5, led by lecturer and academic in-charge, Dr. Watimongla Jamir and agriculture officer, Alen Phom as part of study tour within Nagaland for the academic session 2014-16.
A press release by principal IETC and director SAMETI, Nguzonyi Wetsah stated that the objective of the study tour was to expose the trainees by visiting research farm activities and to interact with subject matter specialists, field officers and progressive farmers.
It stated that trainees were exposed to watershed model area, germplasm collection, research plots on rabi crops, organic farm, mechanical water harvesting structure, commercial plot, horticulture polyhouse cultivation on rose, anthurium and orchids at Yisemyong, Mokokchung, while they also visited various activities of KVK Mokokchung and Wokha and interacted with scientists and SMS.
The Trainees also visited farmers TRC fields, vegetable farm, passion fruit, cardamon, sugarcane farm under Mokokchung, Wokha and Kohima districts and trainees have acquainted themselves with various field situation and other agriculture development activities through this exposure tour.
