Erring officer(s) be dismissed immediately – ACAUT –
Drawing the attention of the state Chief Secretary, ACAUT Nagaland co-convenor Joel Nillo Kath and secretary Zhelie Chuzho, have alleged that government servants drawing salary from the state government and who have sworn to loyally serve the state were threatening their subordinates with exposure for non-compliance in deduction of 24% tax on salary to be paid to Naga Political Groups (NPGs).
In this regard, ACAUT Nagaland maintained, that despite being aware why no deduction of salary of state employees for NPGs should be allowed as it was illegal; some top official(s) of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Dimapur again threatened employees that names and addresses of those not willing to deduct 24% of salary for NPGs/undergrounds, would be handed over to the “undergrounds to be dealt by them”.
Terming the action as “a most shocking episode” ACAUT has demanded, that the erring officer(s) be “dismissed from service immediately and booked under relevant sections of the law for extortion”. ACAUT maintained that the state should initiate exemplary action so that the kind of “mischief as stated above, does not arise again”.
Further, ACAUT said it looked forward to the chief secretary’s cooperation and prompt response so that the rest of the 1,00,000-odd government employees do not have to undergo undue mental harassment on account of “your non-response to this burning issue”.
