Seyochung Village Council (SVC), on behalf of farmers whose fields were destroyed due to “natural calamity,” has sought immediate attention of deputy commissioner (DC) Seyochung, requesting the DC to send a team of officials to inspect and assess the damage for urgent relief to the farmers.
In a letter addressed to the DC Seyochung, chairman SVC, Chokhaba Sangtam, informed that incessant rain over the past fortnight followed by recent stormy torrential downpour had caused heavy damages to standing maize cultivation affecting 66 households.
The damages have been most severe in the region where farmers mostly cultivate maize crops, SVC informed.
In this regard, SVC, on behalf of the farmers, requested the DC to send a team to inspect the damaged fields and “grant relief in the form of financial assistance to medicate sufferings of the affected farmers.”
