A 100 piece Bamhum Ensemble comprising of handpicked bamhum players from Dimapur Mongsenyimti Senso Union gave a mind blowing performance with a medley of 4 songs to open the celebrations of 100 years of Christianity in Mongsenyimti village in Mokokchung district, Nagaland to a packed audience of more than three thousand people.
For the gathering on December 19, it was a new experience as the presentation could be a first of its kind as a 100 piece Ensemble of a single musical instrument is very rare.
The ensemble played harmoniously all the four parts of the medley which received a thunderous applause from the gathering. The 100 years and the 100 bamhums is even more significant as the Bamhum inventor Moa Subong belongs to Mongsenyimti village.
The presentation was a part of Bamhum’s 10th anniversary as it was unveiled by the then Governor of Meghalaya, M.M. Jacob during the International Bamboo Fest at Shillong on May 3, 2005.The event was covered by Films Division of India.
