Lengrijan residents repair road

Upset with no action from government authorities on the deplorable road condition, residents of two colonies- Grace and Lemjen under Lengrijan (Tuesday market area), sector 6, voluntarily blacktopped the deplorable road out of their own contribution without depending on government funding. 
Lengrijan Village Council (LVC) chairman, N. Meren Imchen Tuesday told media persons that the residents decided to carry out the renovation work, since students, elderly persons and women faced lot of troubles while taking this section of the road especially during rainy season.  
The road leading to the colony was renovated at the cost of Rs. 15 lakh, said Meren. However, the renovation was possible out of contribution from the residents of the two colonies and major contribution from one of the resident, Khekaho Ayemi, he added. 
LVC chairman also claimed that the council had approached the government authorities on number of occasion reminding for immediate renovation of the road. Since, there was no response from the government, the residents initiated the work, he added. He also claimed that the road has been ignored for many years. 
Meanwhile, chairman has also sought support and cooperation from the government authorities so that the renovation works on the remaining colonies roads, which needed attention, could be taken up. 
LVC further expressed gratitude to Khekaho Ayemi and leaders and residents of the two colonies for their contribution and cooperation.
