
Department of underdeveloped areas, DUDA conducted a health camp at Tamlu primary health centre under Longleng district on March 22. The health camp covered Tamlu town, Tamlu, Bura Namsang, Kangching and Netnyu villages.
Alongside the medical camp, a holistic and integrated project of DUDA in collaboration with Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS) was launched by commissioner & secretary, DUDA, L. Kire, IFS. This project caters to sectors such as, health, education, sanitation & livelihood in the districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng & Kiphire.
While speaking at the programme, L. Kire said that the mandate of DUDA was to look into the welfare of the people living in backward areas.
He said that as a special focus on human resource development and improvement in livelihood the integrated project with ECS had been initiated.
He further stressed that since resources were limited, people do not have the liberty to waste the resources by self indulgence and urged the community to work in partnership and engage in collective efforts to bring change.
While appreciating Rev. Dr. Chingmak Chang and his vision seen through the ECS, he said that DUDA chose to work with ECS because of its comprehensive approach to development and the commitment to the agenda that communities in active participation with the government could lead the land and its people to progress.
The doctors who offered voluntary services for the health camp were senior specialists from NHAK Dr. Watsutho Nyuthe, Dr. Bernard Amer and senior specialist IMDH Mokokchung Dr. Phyantsuthung Patton, ENT specialist NHAK Dr. Zimatho Nyusou, SMO Medziphema Dr. S. Manyay Phom and senior specialist DH Longleng, Dr. Imnameren Phom. As many as 437 patients were registered with 86 surgery cases. There were 47 cases of ENT out of which 18 hearing aids were distributed. Eye OPD had 69 cases, general medicine 191 and Obst & Gynae cases, 44.
The programme was attended by the district administration headed by ADC Tamlu, Shayung Phom Tamlu, council members of all four villages, president ENSF and village health committee.
