Department of sericulture, Zunheboto district VK area had conducted two-day farmers training and demonstration programme on “ericulture” under RKVY 2015-16 held at govt, sericulture farm at VK Kuzukchika on June 8 to 9.
The resource persons were extension officer, N. Tsenimo Humtsoe extension officer and sericulture demonstrator, Toshi Ao, followed by demonstration on agronomic practices of eri host plants and its management and rearing eri silk worm technology.
During the technical session N. Tsenimo Humtsoe demonstrated to the farmers on the theme “agronomic practices of eri silk host plants and its management”. He explained on how to identify the various eri silk worms, “plants they eat” and the “seasons for the seed to be given”. He further encouraged the farmers to take keen interest in rearing the silkworm and make a benefit out of it. Altogether 12 selected farmers attended the training from two villages, Sastami and Izheto villages.
