Nagaland State Village Development Board Association (NSVDBA) has fervently appealed the government of Nagaland to intervene in the current crisis by relieving the salaries in the department of rural development where the 11 DRDA in the districts are on a pen down strike since June 8 due to non-payment of their salaries for the last 12 months.
A press note by NSVDBA president, Tohoshe Awomi and general secretary, Manthungo Kikon stated that the pen down strike called by the DRDA in all 11 districts in Nagaland has caused immense harm to the poor villagers in Nagaland. It stated that whatever development seen today was due to the dedicated services rendered by the able officers and staffs of the department of rural development. While stating that the staff of DRDAs should not be deprived of their legitimate share, the NSVDBA has also appealed the concern authority to release the salaries of the DRDA staff at the earliest so as to enable them to resume their assigned duties and work for the welfare of the rural population.
