In connection with Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio’s degree row, the hearing was held on Thursday at the court of the district and sessions judge, Y. Maongkaba Imchen.
Rio’s council filed a petition seeking transfer of the case from the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court to another court. However, the council for Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu which opposed the move, sought three weeks time to reply to the petition filed before the district and sessions judge.
In this regard, the district and sessions judge has set August 12 as the next hearing date on the matter.
Meanwhile, the council for Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, filed a “power of attorney” Vakalatnama consequent to Rio filing transfer of case from CJM court to other court, under section 408 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
