Nagaland University (NU) celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day in Kohima Campus, Meriema on September 6 with pro vice chancellor NU, Professor Pardeshi Lal, as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Pardeshi said the institution required the employees sacrifice for growth adding that when people fail to take up responsibility then any institution would deteriorate at any cost.
The pro vice chancellor appealed the stakeholders of the university to play a vital role to bring solutions in the global age. He impressed upon the gathering to put maximum time and effort towards creating a beautiful and joyful atmosphere for the welfare of the University.
Professor of Linguistics, Dr. D. Kuolie, also appealed for unity, working with equal responsibility.
Essay writing competition on “Mahatma Gandhi: Father of the Nation” and “Chandra Shekhar Azaad: The Great Martyr” were conducted where Zuchobeni, Dorothy Chasie and Thünoküve Tetseo were adjudged first, second and third respectively.
Meritorious Group D employees award were received by Imdangungla, MTS, peon in Women’s Studies Centre; Sasiekuo, MTS, Mali; Mnugsashiba, MTS, hostel attendant.
Students, teaching faculties, administrative officers, non- teaching staff attended the programme. Meanwhile, the pro vice chancellor also officially declared the Foundation Day a holiday to mark the “birthday of the university.”
NU-SET: Nagaland University School of Engineering & Technology (NU-SET), Dimapur celebrated 23rd Nagaland University foundation day celebration programme on September 6 in Dimapur.
In his speech, the dean of NU-SET, Dimapur Professor D.P.Chaturvedi urged every one present to review their role in the context of university functioning and re-dedicate themselves so that the university could achieve its objectives and serve the society in better perspective.
Dean also handed over the meritorious award certificate along with cash prize to Kulungding Zeliang, who was selected as the best MTS staff under NU-SET, Dimapur for this year. Debate competition was also held on the topic “Impact of Internet on the Society” and Libo Kinny, Shweta Priya and Abeni Lotha were declared as first, second and third respectively.
The programme was chaired by assistant registrar Kahoshe Sumi, invocation by Ilitoli, welcome address delivered by assistant professor, ECE department and academic in-charge Ayangla Jamir, special song was presented by in-charge Lipenthung, president EU, NU-SETSU, voluntary speech was delivered by Lanuzulu, assistant, administration section, vote of thanks by assistant professor Sourav Hazarika and benediction by ECE department assistant professor, Imesangla.
