DDTOA appeals to DC for loading capacity limit

Dimapur District Truck Owners Association (DDTOA) has appealed to the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur seeking issue of immediate directive to commercial vehicle to abide by central govt. norms (M.V Act) i.e. loading capacity limit in (ton) as prescribed.
In a letter signed by president DDTOA Hokheto Kiba and general secretary, K.Zhimomi, DDTOA informed DC Dimapur that loading capacity limit norms for commercial vehicles were being flouted and unchecked for long causing loss to the truck owners and general public.
The association said due to the practice the truck owners were at the receiving end as without the knowledge of the owner the workers indulge in overloading (beyond limit) for their personal benefit causing monetary loss in the form of accident and vehicle repair.
DDTOA also highlighted that uncontrolled overloading practice was one of the reason behind the deplorable condition of state /national highways which, DDTOA maintained, should be controlled by all means.
Also, the association said overloading of commercial vehicles had given rise to all forms of corruption from all quarter giving upper hand to some corrupted agencies to involve in illegal activities.
In this regard, DDTOA appealed the DC to issue a directive to all commercial vehicles transporters to strictly abide by the central govt. guidelines (M.V Act) as per loading capacity limit chart only. Further, the association warned that if the concerned authority fails to issue directives/ order in this regard, then it would take its own course of action or to seek justice elsewhere, and it should not be held responsible for any eventuality arising out of it.
