‘Natural processing’ w’shop underway at NU Kma campus

Workshop on “natural language processing” is underway for seven-day at Nagaland University, Kohima campus Meriema, organized by the department of Tenyidie in collaboration with the Linguistic Data Consortium of Indian Languages (LDC-IL) from the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore. 
The workshop was inaugurated by commissioner & secretary of Information Technology & Communication, Khriesalie D. Vizo, as the chief guest.  In his address, K.D. Vizo deliberated on the conceptualization of men and women in the field of language and the scientific approach to language study. He urged the women to be more involved in natural language processing, as scientific study of brain processes showed that women were far better attuned to language skills. He also announced that the state was the first to own a State Data Centre in the country. 
Inaugural session was chaired by coordinator (NU), Dr. Mimi Kevichüsa Ezung. Academic and administrative in-charge, Prof. G.T. Thong  delivered the welcome address. Keynote was presented by the coordinator (LDC-IL), Amom Nandaraj Meetei. 
MA 3rd semester students, Tenyidie department presented a special number. Vote of thanks delivered by assistant professor, Metuo Liezietsu.  The seven-day national level workshop would be held till October 28, 2016.
