
Rich tributes were paid to the deceased first generation Naga entrepreneur late Hukato Naga, chairman and managing director H.N Company Pvt Ltd at Nagaland House in the national capital on Friday and in Dimapur on October 31.
In Dimapur, a grand ‘home going funeral’ programme was held at Ikishe village where people from all walk of life, including VIPs, businessmen , well wishers came to pay their final tribute.
Governor of Odisha, Dr. S.C. Jamir, Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio, state legislators Nuklutoshi, Tokheho, and Pukhayi Sumi and other also spoke at the funeral service in Dimapur. State chief minister, T.R. Zeliang and home minister Y. Patton also paid tributes to the departed soul.
Late Hukato wife Deepika, daughter Vivienne and son Tessica also spoke at the funeral.
Rev. John Roughton, ministered the funeral rites while Rev. S Vitoshe Swu, chaired the funeral service programme.
Born on February 18, 1964, Hukato Naga breathed his last on October 25, 2016. Speaking on the occasion at Delhi, his associates, family members and admirers recalled the “rich legacy” left behind by one of the few successful Naga businessmen and pledged that all efforts would be made to materialize his vision for Naga prosperity and unity amongst all.
Sharing his experience and the manner late Hukato successfully laid the foundation of a successful Naga business project despite his humble beginning in a small Aghuhito village under Zunheboto district, his “friend and a relative” Akato Kinimi said late Hukato also faced health problem as he had to undergo kidney transplantation operation twice in 1993 and 1994. Principal Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Jyoti Kailash also described the deceased Naga businessman as his “personal friend” and added that “we both a wonderful innings together”.
Kihoto Yeptho of Jordan Construction said they have been friends since school days in remote Zunheboto district. Among others, pastor Tony, Fusion Church, Rev Alemremba of Ao Christian Fellowship, general secretary of NSUD, Chawangbo also spoke.

Thenucho Tunyi: Ex- minister Thenucho Tunyi has condoled the demise of Late Hukato Naga on October 25. In a condolence note, Tunyi said the passing away of Late Hukato was a great loss not only for him but to the whole Naga people as well.
He expressed his friendship with late Hukato and the memorable moments they shared and recalled their journey together at Birmingham Great Britan to attend the Royal Show and said it was that time, the idea of organizing the Argi Expo at Dimapur was first conceived. He said late Hukato was a man of vision with a unique ability to excel at whatever field he chose and a vibrant personality without any air around him.
Terming late Hukato as a true patriot, Tunyi said Late Hukato was a principled businessman and a God-fearing man. On his death, Tunyi prayed that may Almighty God be gracious unto the departed soul and grant his eternal rest in his heavenly kingdom.
GBC: Garo Baptist Church, Eralibil has expressed sadness at the sudden and untimely demise of late Hukato Naga on October 25 at Nottingham, London. A condolence note by pastor Garo Baptist Church, Richard Marak stated that the death of Hukato was a great loss not only for his wife and children but the Nagas in general. It stated that Nagas have lost a philanthropist, who had contributed immensely to the society in various capacities. The church further extended its sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant them solace from the grief and rest in eternal peace for the departed soul.
UKNA: UK Naga Association (UKNA) members conveyed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the wife, children and family at the tragic demise of Hukato Naga in the UK.
In a condolence message by UK Naga Association coordinator Temsuyanger Longkumer stated that his death was a great loss not only to his family but to the greater Nagas in general. Further the association pray that God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the pain.
WSSU: Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) has expressed deepest condolence at the sudden demise of Hukato Naga. In a condolence message by president Nito Achumi and general secretary Angukato Yeptho stated that his untimely demise was a great loss for the community in particular and the Nagas in general.
WSSU also conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and pray that God may give them solace and comfort and that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
