Coordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration (CCoFA) on Saturday said it out rightly rejected the charge-sheet submitted by the SIT and hit out at the chief minister for failing to keep his word.
In a press note, CCoFA media cell, while terming the charge-sheet as “the disappointment of the year and characterized by one word- servility”, said the only stand-out feature of the charge-sheet was “the Houdini-like ability of the SIT to completely absolve the Food & Civil Supply department of any wrongdoing.”
After studying the charge-sheet report, CCoFA said they sought an appointment with the chief minister T.R. Zeliang, but even after six days, there was no positive response.
The committee further pointed out that Zeliang had on October 18 asked CCoFA to study the report and meet him, at the same time assured that he would set up an independent inquiry body if the charge-sheet was found unsatisfactory. This assurance was given in written by the chief secretary, the committee reminded.
CCoFA said since the chief minister was unwilling to keep his word, the committee would now chart its own course of action.
“Whatever the differences, it’s in the Naga scheme of things to keep one’s word but the complete silence to our repeated overtures is too dishonourable,” said CCoFA.
On the charge-sheet report, CCoFA said it was “unbelievable that the SIT with its competent officers could conduct the investigations and prepare the charge-sheet in such a shameful manner”.
The committee was also of the opinion that the SIT personnel were more worried about their personal positions than maintenance of professional integrity.
After perusing through the report, CCoFA said it wondered whether the charge-sheet was guided by racial bias.
