Taking serious note of prostitution racket in Dimapur, the district administration has constituted an Action Team to address the issue. As per the Office Memorandum, the district administration received several complaints and expressed serious concern over the issue as it had huge potential to adversely impact the socio-economic fabric of the society.
In this regard, the district administration constituted an ‘Action Team’ headed by ADC (Hq) Dimapur as the convenor and representative of Commissioner of Police, DMC administrator, assistant public prosecutor, NCD president/representative as members. The team would study the potential hotspot related to prostitution activities, examine means and suggest ways to address the growth of such activities. The team has been also tasked to prepare an action plan to tackle effectively the growing menace.
The team has been asked to submit the report within 30 days with effect from May 8, the Office Memorandum signed by deputy commissioner Kesonyu Yhome stated.
DC on Healthcare: In a separate press note, the Dimapur district administration, as notified by Health & Family Welfare Department, has informed all responsible that, as per the provision of Section 4 of the Nagaland Health Care Establishment 1997, no person would set up any health care establishment including the ones run by the voluntary organisation except under valid licence granted by the authority in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
DC Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, stated that all private health care establishment, irrespective of the system of medicine, were mandatory to obtain licence and register under the Nagaland Health Care Establishment Authority. Any violations of the Act and Rules made therein is a punishable offence under the Act with imprisonment or a term which may be extended to one year or fine which may extend to Rs.10,000 or with both, DC stated.
Therefore, DC has directed all private health care establishments to register or renew licence within three months. Application form for registration/licence and renewal could be collected from Room No 302, Directorate of H&FW, Kohima.
Under section 3 of Nagaland Health Care Establishment Act 1997, the health care establishment includes: (1) A hospital, maternity home, nursing home, dispensary, clinic, sanatorium or an institution of any recognized system of medicine; (2) Any institution or centre by whatever name called where physically or mentally sick, injured or infirm persons are admitted either as in-patients or out-patients for treatment aid or without the aid of operative procedure and (3) A clinic where patients are admitted for examination and treatment with or without the aid of operative procedures, it shall also mean a centre catering the radiological, biological and other diagnostic or investigative service with the aid of laboratory or other medical equipments.
