
Sensitization of district Animal Husbandry (A.H) & Veterinary Services officers on OIE Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) evaluation programme was conducted on Wednesday at conference hall, Directorate of A.H & Veterinary Services, Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, PVS nodal officer Nagaland, Dr Tongpangkokba, highlighted on the purpose of the programme and said that such information sessions would help the departmental officials to understand the evaluation methods, planning, preparation, conduct and follow up of OIE-PVS evaluation in India.
He said that PVS evaluation was a qualitative assessment of the performance of a country’s veterinary services to identify the critical gaps conducted by a group of OIE-certified PVS experts which collects and analyses baseline information to assess the country’s veterinary services level of compliance against OIE standards.
Tongpangkokba also reminded that each participant were ambassadors for their respective stations and urged them to be actively involved in dissemination of awareness on OIE PVS evaluation.
Concept note on OIE-Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) Evaluation and a template for evaluation of performance of veterinary services prepared by the government of India was also circulated to participants so that state district/state level officials would prepare the data and submit specific information to OIE team for the PVS evaluation. The training was attended by 28 officers.
