
Stone pulling ceremony is one unique practice, since the particular stone has been chosen among many to commemorate the upcoming golden jubilee, said minister of Rural Development, E.E Pangteang on Monday.
He said this while delivering patron address at Diphupar Naga Youth Organization (DNYO) golden jubilee monolith pulling ceremony. The stone pulling ceremony was organized by Diphupar Youth Organization (DNYO) at Agri Expo Dimapur for the upcoming golden jubilee which would be held on October 20 and 21.
Panteang in his speech mentioned that Nagas have a unique culture and tradition and stone pulling was one such practice which had been followed by forefathers.
Lauding Diphupar village for its distinction in creating atmosphere of peace and unity for past many years, Pangteang asserted that the village has become like a mini state represented by different Naga tribes as well as non-Nagas. He said that Diphupar had the honour to have politicians, dignitaries, officers, social workers and leaders of various dignified institutions living in its midst.
He further thanked the village council and youth organization for maintaining conducive atmosphere.
Pangteang also made the declaration to command proceeding of DNYO golden jubilee monolith stone pulling ceremony.
Thousands of menfolk including young and old actively took part in the stone pulling ceremony in traditional attires. The ceremony took place from Agri-expo Dimapur via Diphupar council hall.
Earlier, invocation prayer was pronounced by Tangkhul Baptist Church Diphupar (TBCD) pastor Rev. Candid Sareo, welcome address was delivered by monolith convener, Dr. C Tetseo and significance of the ceremony was delivered by head GB.
Later, the ceremony followed declaration of the monolith arrival and benediction.
