Mhasikholie Martin Swiho, was on Friday, ordained as priest at Kohima local ground in the presence of thousands of believers with Bishop of Kohima Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil as the main celebrant on Friday.
In his message during rite of ordination, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil said that priest ordination was done according to the Bible found in both Old and New testaments with the authority given by God. Thoppil said that a priest must devote his life to serve and not to be served. He reminded that a true priest must give up the love of himself and should be Christ like, as a priest, prophet and leader.
Further, he said that a priest should glorify God in his life and set good examples before people so that they receive eternal life. He added that a priest has pastoral responsibility to comfort people and preach the gospel of Christ.
Earlier, St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish youth choir presented a special song, words of congratulation by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, words on behalf of family by Sulupoyi Sebastian Swiho, cultural song by Thenyizumi community, vote of thanks by Vikepelhou Lucas Meyase and benediction by assistant priest, St. Francis de Sales church. Rev. Fr. Solomon Vizo was the master of ceremonies, Rocus R. Chasie led the ceremony, Vilasalie James was cross bearer, choir seat by SFS Parish youth with Kelhoumedo Andrew as choir conductor and Neikuonuo Monica as pianist.
Newly ordained priest, Mhasikholie Martin Swiho also addressed the gathering.
It may be mentioned that deacon Mhasikholie Martin Swiho was born on July 29, 1990 of Theophilus Thepurhayi Swiho and Pezalhoukhono Angela Swiho at D block Kohima.
