CYAJ Golden Jubilee begins

December 22, 2018 | by admin

Catholic Youth Association Jakhama (CYAJ) began its two-day golden jubilee celebrations with an invocation prayer and unfurling of the CYAJ flag by Rev. Fr. Charles D’ Souza SJ at St. Mary Catholic Church in Jakhama on December 22.

A press release from CYAJ member, Max Khieya stated that, speaking at the inaugural function, Rev. Fr. D’ Souza said golden jubilee was a time when cultivation of land is put to rest sacrificing one year to God with no grudges, anger, enmity or negativity.

He also advised the youth to be grateful to God for their parents, well-being, health and lives and uncountable blessings given by God. He also told them to live like angels since God has allotted a purpose for everyone to live positively. Rev. Fr. D’ Souza also encouraged everyone to prepare for eternal life.

Stating that youth were the link between children and older people, the priest urged them to go to Church at least once a week and reminded them of the commandment to observe the Lord’s day. He also said that youth were the future of the Church and urged them to bring their parents and younger siblings to Church also.

Earlier, Keleto John read from the Bible; blessing for jubilee gifts was offered by Rev. Fr. Benny Varghese, administrator St. Joseph’s College Jakhama.

Elders of the Church, including those above eighty years of age, were felicitated with presents on the opening day of the jubilee.

A special number was presented by Vikukhoto Johnson and friends, and the program was chaired by Kikozol Richard.
