DIMAPUR, APR 20 (NPN): Resource Centre, Dimapur observed ‘Earth Day’ on Wednesday with secretary Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) Rusovil John as the speaker.
Rusovil in his speech said the department (NPCB) would soon start monitoring dhansari river, air pollution, and noise pollution which has been creating havoc, and at the same time lamented the NPCB has not been utilized to its optimum,
He maintained that Nagas still have a long way to go in adapting civic norms, and added that environmentally conscious citizens need to evolve a concept for changing attitude and actively participate in protection and preservation the environment.
Disclosing the NPCB would be conducting seminar on paper recycling and set up a paper recycling centre, he said interested candidates can contact the office directly or through e-mail.
He further urged the people to change their approach and use jute bags instead of plastic, adding the government as well as the department has taken initiative to introduce environmentally friendly bags in the market.
