
Children’s parliament of St. Anthony’s High School (SAHS), Tenyiphe held an interface meeting at Chumukedima Police Station on October 29, organized by the children’s parliament initiative under Development Association of Nagaland (DAN).
A press release from DAN stated that, Bendangwati, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chumukedima Police Station (CPS) briefly spoke about the establishment of the police station and introduced each police personnel.
During the session, he told the students that they should never let their names be registered in the “lock up register or the police register”. He further told them that if their names were registered, they would face difficulties in the future seeking jobs, be it in the government departments or private sector, or to even set up their own business as “No Objection” certificate would be issued from the police station. The students and the police personnel also held interactions on various issues like the number of personnel stationed at the Chumukedima Police Station, Special Juvenile Police Unit, where the juveniles were kept after they were found guilty, etc. The students were also shown the office rooms- sheristadar, investigation room, telephone room, barrack, OC office, lock up, and juvenile investigation room.
